This might be an easier way you can try. Open MMD 3. At the bottom of the screen there are 4 boxes "Model manipulation", "bone manipulation", "facial manipulation" and "view" 4. In the Model Manipulation box there Is a button that says "load". Go ahead and Find your model that you downloaded, trying searching It or looking In different folders. It should change you back to the MMD app and a white tab should pop up, just click "Ok" It should load up after.
If It leads you to another folder click On that. It also may lead you to a bunch of pictures from the model. Make sure to find the one that says the exact name Of your model. Press "Ok" your Model should appear after a few seconds.
